Credit Suisse (UK) Ltd has become the latest member of the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML).

Credit Suisse (UK) is wholly-owned by the Credit Suisse group, which operates the Credit Suisse Bank and a range of other financial services investments.

Founded in 1856, Credit Suisse helped fund the development of Switzerland’s electrical grid and the European railway system. It moved into retail banking in the early years of the last century. Currently, it has more than £550 billion of assets under management, according to the Scorpio Partnership private banking benchmark.

As part of its banking and lending services, the firm offers mortgages, with a team specialising in lending on high-value properties. It also provides banking services, finance for commercial property, and lending secured against investment assets.

The CML now has 125 members, a further eight members that are third party administrators, and 85 associates.
