Mortgage industry mental health survey returns for fifth year

Published on

The Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC) has launched its fifth annual Mental Health & Wellbeing Survey, calling on mortgage and specialist lending professionals to share their experiences of workplace wellbeing.

The survey opens today and is aiming for more than 500 responses this year in a bid to create its most comprehensive dataset yet on mental health across the sector.

To encourage participation, Pepper Money has pledged to donate £2 for every completed survey response to the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter Foundation CIC.

If the 500-response target is reached, £1,000 will be raised to support ongoing mental health initiatives, including Mental Health First Aid training across the industry.

KEY BENCHMARK

Now in its fifth year, the survey has become a key benchmark for measuring wellbeing across the mortgage sector, covering advisers, lenders, distributors and support teams.

Findings from previous years have helped shape employer wellbeing strategies and contributed to the development of Mental Health First Aid training, industry events and wider workplace wellbeing initiatives.

Jason Berry (main picture, inset), co-founder of the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter, said the survey has played a growing role in improving awareness and support across the industry.

He said: “Every response represents somebody choosing to improve the future of our profession.

“Over the past five years we’ve listened, learned and acted on what our industry has told us. The result has been meaningful change, from expanding Mental Health First Aid training to creating initiatives that encourage healthier conversations, stronger leadership and better support across our workplaces.

“This year we’re asking the industry to come together behind one simple goal – 500 voices.”

“Not only will those responses provide our most comprehensive picture of wellbeing to date, they’ll also unlock £1,000 of funding from Pepper Money to help us train even more Mental Health First Aiders.”

Paul Adams, sales director at Pepper Money, said the initiative helps strengthen understanding of wellbeing across the sector while directly supporting practical action.

He said: “We’re proud to support this year’s survey because meaningful change starts by listening.

“Every completed survey will help build a better understanding of wellbeing across our industry while directly funding practical support through the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter Foundation CIC.

“We hope colleagues from every part of the mortgage sector will take a few minutes to participate and help achieve the shared goal of 500 responses.”

The Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter now has more than 400 signatory organisations, representing over 30,000 people across the UK mortgage sector.

The survey is open to anyone working in the mortgage and specialist lending industry.
