The Mansfield Building Society has appointed Richard Scott as its business development manager (BDM).

He will lead the development and growth strategy of the Mansfield’s intermediary channel as it seeks to improve its proposition to the broker market.

Scott joins the Mansfield from Paymentshield where he was key accounts manager for the past three years. He was previously national sales manager at the West Bromwich and Stroud and Swindon Building Societies, responsible for developing the lender’s intermediary business.

Prior to this he was with the Chelsea Building Society and has been employed in regional building societies for over 16 years.

Scott said: “I am really excited by the challenge here at The Mansfield. There is a clear plan for developing mortgage business via the intermediary channel in key market segments including new build, self-build, buy-to-let, shared ownership and the more traditional first and second time buyer markets.

“The range of products and markets served, combined with a commitment to personal service on the back of underwriting by an individual, not a computer, will give brokers the confidence to deal with us.”

Mike Taylor, the Mansfield’s sales and marketing manager, added: “It is great to have someone of Richard’s experience join the team. Richard will develop the intermediary channel as well as new and existing network, distributor and mortgage broker relationships and add further to our growing reputation in our key markets.”
