Legal & General has appointed Andy Humphreys as its marketing director for individual retirement.

He joins following L&G’s acquisition of equity release provider New Life Home Finance.

Prior to joining Legal & General, Humphreys was director of marketing at Just Retirement, where he was responsible for marketing strategy, planning and execution across direct, digital, intermediary and partner channels, as well as being a member of the senior management team.

Prior to Just Retirement he held roles at Lloyds TSB, Oxfam, AMP, Virgin Money, and Commercial Union.

Humphreys said: “I have joined Legal & General at a really exciting time with our recent launch into lifetime mortgages and emerging plans to become a leading force for years to come in the UK Retirement Market.

“Legal & General is a trusted brand with consumers and we want to help them, with the support of appropriate advice, make informed decisions about how to best use their money in retirement through the provision of clear information and competitive products that meet their needs.”

Bernie Hickman, managing director of individual retirement, said: “Andy’s experience and knowledge of the marketplace and consumers will be invaluable to Legal & General as we continue to grow our presence in the retirement market.

“Over 60s in the UK have nearly £1.3trn in housing equity and we believe accessing this will become an increasingly popular way for many people to supplement their retirement income.

“Legal & General has considerable capacity to provide future funding for retirement solutions, given the strong demand for lending into retirement that we are now seeing in the UK market.”
