The Leeds Building Society has backed Marie Curie through the charity’s annual daffodil appeal and corporate fundraising quiz.

A dozen colleagues from the mutual used their volunteering leave at the Marie Curie Yorkshire Brain Game held in Leeds city centre, and helped to meet and greet guests, sell raffle tickets and mark quizzes.

They were taking advantage of the Society’s volunteering scheme, which allows all employees a day’s paid leave each year to help a good cause of their choice.

In addition, Leeds Building Society branches raised £1,200 for Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal by selling daffodil pin badges throughout March.

These vital funds will help Marie Curie nurses to provide more free care to people living with terminal illnesses in their own homes across Yorkshire and in the charity’s Bradford hospice.

“We were delighted colleagues from Leeds Building Society volunteered at the first Yorkshire Brain Game, which raised more than £95,000 to fund vital care for those living with terminal illness and their families,” said Holly Buckley, senior partnerships manager at Marie Curie.

“We couldn’t have done it without them giving up their time. I’d also like to extend that thanks to colleagues and customers at Leeds Building Society’s branches for continually supporting our Great Daffodil Appeal.

“Without the support of businesses such as this, we wouldn’t be able to be there for families when they need us.”
