The Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association (IMLA) has welcomed the appointment of Stephanie Charman as the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries’ (AMI) new chief executive.

Incoming: Stephanie Charman

Charman, current group partnerships and propositions director at Sesame Bankhall Group (SBG), is succeeding AMI’s current chief executive, Robert Sinclair, in February 2025.

She has held previous roles within mortgage distribution over the past 25 years, including at specialist distributor Positive Lending and mortgage network Mortgage Intelligence.

Kate Davies of IMLA

Kate Davies, executive director of IMLA, said “IMLA and AMI work very closely together to foster greater understanding between lenders and brokers, influence government and regulatory policy and share knowledge and expertise for the betterment of our industry.

“[Charman’s] long experience in the market and passion for the intermediary role make her perfectly placed to lead AMI onto the next chapter”

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Robert for his long service and invaluable contribution to the mortgage industry – we have very much enjoyed the collaboration of our complementary trade bodies over the years.

“We are delighted to congratulate Stephanie on her appointment. Her long experience in the market and passion for the intermediary role make her perfectly placed to lead AMI onto the next chapter, and we look forward to working effectively with her as we continue to address market challenges, promote the best regulatory outcomes and evolve the lender/broker relationship.”
