FCS Compliance has announced the latest in its series of free educational webinars for property professionals, focusing this time on the topic of customer due diligence (CDD).
The event, titled Ask the experts – everything you need to know about customer due diligence, will take place at 10am on Thursday 27 November. It will bring together a panel of anti-money laundering (AML) specialists from FCS Compliance to answer questions directly from participants.
The live, hour-long session will be audience-led, with expected discussion points including how to differentiate between simplified and enhanced due diligence, verifying complex ownership structures, and understanding the pitfalls of relying on CDD carried out by others.
The panel will include Stephen Williamson, lead AML consultant at FCS Compliance’s property division; Caroline Walters, director of quality standards; and senior AML consultant Jen Siwicki.
Williamson spent 17 years in the banking industry, specialising in property finance, and has managed anti-fraud and AML teams at major banks and electronic money institutions. He also brings first-hand experience of the London property market from his time running a development firm.
Walters, a former Thames Valley Police officer, has an extensive background in law enforcement, including serious and organised crime investigations. She has since built a career in compliance across both the public and private sectors, with a particular focus on real estate regulation over the past eight years.
Siwicki previously worked at the National Crime Agency and the City of London Police’s Economic Crime Directorate, where she investigated complex fraud and international money laundering. She now applies her investigative expertise to anti-financial crime and compliance frameworks within the property sector.
Each panellist is a member of the International Compliance Association (ICA) and holds professional qualifications in anti-money laundering.
The webinar aims to give property professionals greater confidence in managing CDD requirements as part of their daily operations, against the backdrop of increasing regulatory scrutiny in the sector.
