EXCLUSIVE: Mortgage industry launches festive concert to aid homeless

Published on

A collective of leading mortgage brokerages are joining forces this festive season to raise upwards of £50,000 in aid of tackling homelessness across the capital.

Mortgageforce UK, Brightstar and Coreco are spearheading Take Me Home 25 – Christmas Charity Concert, which will be staged in the City of London on Wednesday 26 November.

The event will bring together a stellar line-up of musical talent, with headline acts drawn both from the West End stage and from within the mortgage industry itself.

Kevin Duffy, managing director at Mortgageforce UK, said: “Some will recall the incredible Ukraine Aid concert we produced three years ago.

“Well this will be threefold that magnitude and we’ve not only signed up the best of the West End’s artistic talents but also the industry’s leading musical talents.”

BUILDING FUTURES

The concert will raise funds for EveryYouth, a national youth homelessness charity that works with local partners across the UK to prevent young people falling into rough sleeping and to provide long-term support to help them build independent futures.

According to recent data, nearly 136,000 young people asked their local council for help with homelessness last year, underlining the scale of the challenge.

For the organisers, the cause could not be more urgent.

Rob Jupp, chief executive of the Brightstar Group, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the ‘Take Me Home 25 – Christmas Charity Concert’.

“This event, following up from the success of Ukraine Aid and supporting the charity, EveryYouth, will once again help bring our industry together to play our part in tackling homelessness in the UK.

“I can think of no better way to head into the Christmas festivities, that we are all fortunate to enjoy, than supporting this event as we all dig a little deeper at a time of festive goodwill to all.”

COLLECTIVE ACTION

Coreco, one of London’s most established brokerages, is also playing a central role. The firm has a long track record of charitable involvement, particularly around London-based causes, and sees the concert as an opportunity for the mortgage sector to demonstrate its ability to mobilise behind issues that affect society more broadly.

Andrew Montlake, CEO of Coreco, said: “It seems like a long time since the success of the original Sleep Out and Take Me Home Charity single, and homelessness sadly seems even more of an issue than it was seven years ago.

“As an industry that thrives on helping people fortunate enough to be able to buy their own home, we always need to take a step back and think about those that do not have that opportunity.

“We are proud that the mortgage industry is made up of a diverse range of people who care passionately about the welfare of their clients, and the communities they work within, as well as having a vast array of hidden talents, and events like this give us a chance to showcase this.”

“The night promises to be a belter.”

He added: “When Kevin approached us with the idea for Take Me Home 25, after the enormous success of the Ukraine Aid gig, we were only too delighted to get involved.

“The night promises to be a belter and I am looking forward to rocking with our band Rogue Monkey and a whole host of industry legends.”

UNITED EFFORTS

The event follows the success of the Ukraine Aid concert, which brought together the mortgage industry in 2022 to raise tens of thousands of pounds in humanitarian support.

Organisers say they are confident the Christmas concert will surpass that milestone, with early interest from lenders, brokers and service providers looking to support through sponsorship and donations.

NETWORKING OPPORTUNITY

Beyond the music, the evening will also be a powerful networking opportunity for the sector.

Last year, nearly 136,000 young people in the UK sought help from their local council due to homelessness.

Funds raised will provide direct support and prevention programmes in London and nationwide.

With general admission tickets, corporate sponsorship packages and charitable support options to be announced in the coming weeks, the organisers are urging the wider mortgage community to lend their support to what they describe as one of the industry’s most ambitious charitable efforts to date.
