Billionaire backs Virgin bid for RBS branches

Billionaire investor Wilbur Ross told Reuters on Sunday that he is willing to support Virgin Money by up to £500 million to in its bid to buy the branch network of the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Ross, who teamed up with Virgin in 2007 during its attempt to buy Northern Rock, said he has also invested £100 million ($152 million) in Virgin Money.

The deadline for bids for the 300 RBS branches is today.
