Aegon appoints COO

Aegon UK has appointed Tommy Young as chief operating officer for its life and pensions business.

&ltspan class=&quotApple-style-span&quot&gtYoung is currently responsible for leading the implementation of&lt/span&gtAegon&ltspan class=&quotApple-style-span&quot&gt’s re-structure and cost-saving programme, a position he has held since the programme began in June 2010.&lt/span&gt

&ltspan class=&quotApple-style-span&quot&gtHe will replace Simon Skinner whose appointment as CEO of&lt/span&gtAegon&ltspan class=&quotApple-style-span&quot&gtIreland was announced on 8 August.&lt/span&gt

&ltspan class=&quotApple-style-span&quot&gtIn his new role Young will join&lt/span&gtAegon’s&ltspan class=&quotApple-style-span&quot&gtleadership team, the Insurance Executive Committee, and will lead all aspects of AEGON’s business operations including IT, change and customer services.&lt/span&gt

He will take up the position on 1 September.

&ltspan class=&quotApple-style-span&quot&gtYoung joined&lt/span&gtAegon&ltspan class=&quotApple-style-span&quot&gtin 2009 as governance and controls director of its sales and distribution business. Prior to that he was head of commercial banking for England and Wales at HBOS.&lt/span&gt
