Over 1,000 UK charities have received a share of £118,000 in Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation’s annual giveaway – Make a Difference Week.

Throughout one week in summer, Yorkshire Building Society invited its customers and members of the local community to call into any one of its 227 branches or 95 agencies to nominate a charity they would like to see receive a £100 boost.

More than 1,000 charities will be receiving a cheque for £100.

“Make A Difference Week has been a fantastic success yet again, with a huge number of charities receiving a nomination for support,” said Adrian Horsley, Campaign Manager for Yorkshire Building Society.

“Make A Difference Week is a great opportunity for members of the public to tell us about charities that are important to them and that they would like to see receive a bit of extra support in these difficult times.

“This year we have seen donations for large charities such as British Heart Foundation down to smaller good causes such as scout groups, nurseries and community centres and I hope the donations will truly Make A Difference to all the beneficiaries nominated throughout the UK.”

The Society’s Charitable Foundation has run the Make Difference Week giveaway for five years and in that time has given away more than £500,000 to charities across the country.
