Word On The Street appoints new partner

Published on

Specialist finance broker Word On The Street has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Jack Medlicott as partner.

The appointment follows a period of rapid expansion for the London-based brokerage, which has seen a 400% rise in arranged lending since June 2024 and secured multiple industry award nominations and wins.

Medlicott’s arrival marks a strategic step forward as the business looks to consolidate its position in the high-net-worth and non-domiciled client space.

A qualified property solicitor, Medlicott (pictured) brings over a decade of experience advising lender clients ranging from PLCs and institutional funders to smaller family offices and start-up bridging providers.

He has managed loan books of up to £200m across a broad spectrum of asset classes, including buy-to-let, bridging, development and investment finance.

OVERSEEING IMPROVEMENTS

His track record in lender-side operations includes spearheading improvements in workflow efficiency and digital integration across the lending process.

At Word On The Street, he will be responsible for enhancing underwriting and risk management processes, with a focus on streamlining stakeholder engagement and addressing complex legal structures involving land and title.

Commenting on his appointment, Medlicott said: “I am joining at a time of massive success for the business. Michael [Street, founding partner] and the team have created something special, and I look forward to this opportunity to contribute to its exciting journey.

“Over the years, I have fine-tuned my ability to review and improve day-to-day interactions between stakeholders, resulting in swifter, more streamlined lending.

“In my new role, I will seek to remove traditional blockages by promoting enhancements to processes and added perspective. I’ll also be adding value from a risk management point of view, utilising my extensive experience with loan structuring, including complex land and title considerations.”

Street, who founded the firm in 2020, said the appointment was a natural fit with the company’s broader vision.

“I am thrilled that Jack has come on board; he is exactly the type of hire that fits in with our non-standard approach to finance broking—but addresses a real need for transformation in our industry.

“By combining Jack’s expertise, we’re adding to the cross-disciplined make-up of Word On The Street that is part of our secret to success.

“We don’t just want to arrange finance, we want to improve and enhance the experience, and this can only be done by thinking outside of the box.

“I have no doubt that Jack’s background and skillset will be an exciting development not only for us as a business, but for all of our lenders and professional partners.”
