Together supports Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital

Together celebrated its inaugural golf day under its new brand at Mere Resort, Cheshire, and raised £6,000 for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

The event was attended by 130 guests, including Ashley Taylor Dawson, of Hollyoaks and Strictly Come Dancing fame, who acts as a patron for the hospital’s charity and spoke about his experience with one of the children who underwent a bone marrow transplant.

Together has set out a long-term campaign to raise funds to refurbish the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, where children affected can spend considerable time as they wait for an operation that could ultimately save their life.

Marc Goldberg (pictured, left), director of Together, said: “We’re so pleased to be supporting Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and are delighted to present them with this cheque for £6,000.

“We’ve seen the incredible difference that fundraising has made to other wards and facilities at the hospital, and we hope that our efforts can deliver similar results and have a genuine impact on the lives of those affected.”

The fundraising included a series of golf games, a raffle and an auction, where the main lots were a week’s holiday in Marbella, a two-night break at Wineport Lodge in Ireland, six tickets to a One Direction concert at Manchester Arena,  a Manchester City football shirt, signed by the team, and a Manchester United shirt, signed by Wayne Rooney.

Joel Oxberry, corporate fundraising manager for the charity, said: “It was a fantastic event and we are thrilled with the amount raised.  We’re very grateful to our patron, Ashley Taylor Dawson, for taking the time to join us and share his story, and we look forward to working with Together as the campaign continues.”
