Three lender behemoths pledge support for Christmas Charity Concert

Sponsorship packages for the Take Me Home Charity gig being held on November 26th in the City of London continue to be taken up at a fast pace of knots.

Barclays Bank, Nationwide Building Society and the Coventry Building Society have all pledged their support this week for what is sure to be not only a worthy cause in support of young homeless people but also the mortgage industry’s social event of the year.

Organisers are aiming to raise upwards of £50,000 to help tackle homelessness across the capital.

The concert will feature a headline cast drawn from both the West End stage and the mortgage industry itself, with all funds going to EveryYouth, which works with partners nationwide to prevent young people falling into rough sleeping and to help them build independent futures.

Nearly 136,000 young people approached their local councils for help with homelessness last year, underlining the urgency of the cause.

Roland McCormack, managing director of Intermediaries at Barclays, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this amazing industry initiative to support the homeless and I am looking forward to seeing the industry’s finest in action.”

Jonathan Stinton, head of intermediary relationships at Coventry, added: “The mortgage industry isn’t just about rates and numbers – it’s about people and futures.

“This event shows that when our industry comes together, we’re capable of creating more than financial solutions; we can help make a difference.

“We’re really proud to offer our support on what promises to be a fun night that brings people together for a worthy cause.”

Kevin Duffy, managing director of Mortgageforce UK and the driving force behind the event, said: “It is really humbling that these prominent lenders are taking the time to support such a noble cause.

“With over three quarters of the available tickets now assigned , I would encourage any other interested lenders to get in touch sooner rather than later by contacting michelleb@mortgageforce.co.uk.”

UNITED EFFORTS

The event follows the success of the Ukraine Aid concert, which brought together the mortgage industry in 2022 to raise tens of thousands of pounds in humanitarian support.

Beyond the music, the evening will also be a powerful networking opportunity for the sector.

Last year, nearly 136,000 young people in the UK sought help from their local council due to homelessness.

Funds raised will provide direct support and prevention programmes in London and nationwide.

With general admission tickets, corporate sponsorship packages and charitable support opportunities available the organisers are urging the wider mortgage community to lend their support to what they describe as one of the industry’s most ambitious charitable efforts to date.
