The Vernon joins L&G Mortgage Club panel

The Vernon Building Society has joined up with Legal & General Mortgage Club to give brokers access to its full range of mortgage products.

Stockport’s building society offers residential, buy-to-let and retirement interest-only mortgages, including its Offset Retirement Mortgage.

Tom Gurrie (pictured), the Vernon’s head of intermediary sales, said: “Vernon is a small lender with big ambitions and our products reflect that. Combined with a personal and individual approach to underwriting that comes from 95 years’ experience and a commitment to giving brokers better service, we offer a compelling proposition for those cases that require a closer look.

“Legal & General Mortgage Club is one of the market leaders and marks the next step in our distribution strategy. We look forward to working with more brokers from across the country and helping their clients find the right mortgage solution for their needs.”

Danny Belton, head of lender relationships at Legal & General Mortgage Club, added: “Lending through regional building societies has grown significantly in 2018, up 12% on 2017. Building societies have been able to provide great lending options for clients who are often unable to go to the high street while utilising the human approach to underwriting.

“We look forward to working closely with Vernon Building Society and seeing their niche products really add value for our members and their customers.”
