The Right Mortgage & Protection Network marks 10-year anniversary

Published on

The Right Mortgage & Protection Network is celebrating its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of growth since its launch in February 2015.

Over the past 10 years, the network has expanded to include nearly 900 advisers across 402 firms, with 125 advisers and 31 firms joining in the last 12 months alone.

DECADE OF DEVELOPMENTS

Founded as a family-run business by Martin and Amanda Wilson, alongside Adam and Tania Stretton, the network has continued to grow, with their daughters Amy, Victoria, and Emma Wilson now playing active roles. In recent years, Amy and Victoria have taken on leadership positions as head of insurance and head of lending, respectively.

Since its inception, The Right Mortgage & Protection Network has introduced several new propositions, including The Right Referral Service (2015), The Right PMI & Healthcare (2016), The Right Conveyancing (2017), The Later Life Lending Network (2018), The Right Loan (2019), and The Right Retirement Plan (2019). In 2024, the network launched its own Later Life Lending Advice accreditation, with plans to introduce a similar programme for buy-to-let advisers this year.

The network is a member of several industry bodies, including the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI), the Equity Release Council, the Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries, and the Protection Distributors’ Group.

GROWTH AND RECOGNITION

The Right Mortgage & Protection Network has also expanded its training and development support for member firms. In 2017, the network hosted nine in-person events, a number that had risen to 40 face-to-face meetings and 46 webinars by 2024, with further sessions planned for 2025.

Last year was the network’s strongest to date, with business activity increasing across all key areas. Mortgage volumes grew by 14% year-on-year, protection by 22%, general insurance by 21%, equity release by 39%, and private medical insurance by 30%.

The network attributes its success to a combination of membership growth, regulatory changes under Consumer Duty, and the breadth of its product panels, particularly in mortgages and protection. It also highlighted its consistency in pricing, having never increased monthly adviser fees in its 10-year history.

CELEBRATIONS

The network will mark the milestone at its National Training Event and Gala Dinner on 27 March 2025 at The Vox, Resorts World in Birmingham. The event will feature over 90 lender and provider exhibitors, panel discussions, and roundtable sessions.

Martin Wilson

Martin Wilson, CEO and founding director at The Right Mortgage & Protection Network, reflected on the achievement.

He said: “It’s a remarkable achievement to have reached our 10-year anniversary as a network, particularly given everything that has happened during that period, and of course we give particular thanks to every single person who has played their part, however small, in us reaching this wonderful milestone.

“For us, it’s been about creating an environment in which firms and their advisers can thrive, where they have certainty and consistency in terms of what it’s going to cost them, and where they have access to everything they need, and then some, to ensure they run successful and profitable businesses.

“The last 10 years have passed by in a flash, but we are constantly planning, preparing and looking forward to the next decade, to build on what we have developed and to ensure we continue to have a family-run operation which delivers for all our stakeholders.”
