The Newcastle provides home insurance quote after ‘five easy questions’

Published on

The Newcastle Building Society has confirmed a new five-year household insurance partnership with Legal & General.

It is to offer a range of SmartQuote home insurance products across its 28 branches, website and telephone services.

The SmartQuote platform provides customers with a full home insurance quote in just five questions.

Stuart Miller, customer director for Newcastle Building Society, said: “As the largest building society in the North East, we’re very pleased to be able to make SmartQuote available to our customers.

“SmartQuote technology transforms the process of organising home insurance from a traditionally time consuming, tedious task, to an easy, straightforward experience. All that is needed is the customer’s name and address and the hardest question they’ll be asked is whether they’ve had any previous claims.

“When data insight, technology and customer convenience work together, it has the potential to make people’s lives better and we believe that’s an important benefit, whether customers are transacting with us in branch, over the phone or on our website.”

The Society and Legal & General have been in partnership since 2007, offering members access to a range of L&G’s household Insurance products.

Cheryl Aguis, CEO, at Legal & General GI, added: “I am delighted that Newcastle Building Society have extended the valuable partnership we have with them and they will continue to be a key partner going forward. The bank and building society sector is really important area of growth for the GI business.”

Mark Screeton, GI distribution director, affinity banks and building societies at Legal & General, said: “This is fantastic news and a great testimony to the value of working together in partnership and my thanks personal thanks to both teams. It’s also great to be able to launch SmartQuote at the same time which will help us reach and protect even more Newcastle Building Society customers.”
