The Leeds supports ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’

Leeds Building Society has again pledged its support for Macmillan’s main fundraising event, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning 2012.

Last year the Leeds raised more money for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning than any other company in Leeds and they are hoping to be just as successful this year.

On Friday 28 September, customers will be invited into branches to enjoy coffee and cake in exchange for donations, with all proceeds going to Macmillan. At their head office, a coffee morning will be held just for staff in the canteen.

Clara White, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support said: “Macmillan hopes to raise £10.7million from this year’s event, beating last year’s total of £10 million, to make it the biggest ever in the event’s 22-year history. The money raised from the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is used to fund a wide range of services for cancer sufferers and their families, including financial, emotional and practical support.

“One in three of us may one day be living with cancer; the support of local businesses is valued greatly by Macmillan and is crucial in order for them to provide the services required by people with cancer.”

Sanae Atkins, Leeds Building Society Head Office Branch Manager, added: “We are proud to be taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning again on Friday 28th September. We have supported Macmillan Cancer Support with this event over numerous years and hope many branches will again sign up, both in Leeds and across the UK.”
