Leeds Building Society has supported the British Heart Foundation (BHF) with a donation of over 4,000 garments of unwanted items for sale in their network of charity shops.

The mutual’s 400-strong branch staff donated their uniform as the company updates the garments for its staff. All items donated will support the BHF’s network of over 700 shops.

Leeds Building Society has chosen to donate the items to the BHF as a way of supporting the UK’s leading heart charity and also reducing the volume of textiles currently entering landfill in the region.

BHF Area Manager Mavis Dillon said: “We’re so pleased that Leeds Building Society chose to donate their uniforms to the BHF, many of the items are of a saleable quality and we hope that this activity will also encourage the staff to continue to donate their unwanted items to the nation’s heart charity.”

Paul Kaye, general manager sales at Leeds Building Society, added: “We are delighted with our new corporate uniform, our previous uniform served us well and the fabrics remain of very high quality. We therefore approached the British Heart Foundation to donate the garments from our old uniform range. We are very pleased that the BHF agreed to accept these and hope they will help raise funds for the charity. They were collected from our head office building today.”
