Leeds Building Society is celebrating its new partnership with Variety, the Children’s Charity by supporting the topical ‘Star Wars’ gold heart badge campaign.

The Leeds is the only financial institution to have the badges on display and they will be on sale, for a suggested donation of £1, at all 65 U.K. branches of the Society until Wednesday 29th February.

Variety’s Star Wars 2012 Gold Heart badges, featuring C-3PO and R2-D2, will coincide with the 3D release of ‘Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace.’ in cinemas during February 2012.

The gold heart badge campaign is the first initiative since the partnership between the two organisations was announced in late 2011. This relationship sees Variety join Leeds Building Society’s Caring Saver account. The funds raised through this account will help the charity meet the special needs of more children across the UK, whilst giving savers the opportunity to see the additional benefits from choosing to invest in the Caring Saver account.

Colleen Ettridge, major accounts fundraising manager at Variety, said: “We believe every child should have the chance to enjoy their childhood and realise their unique potential despite disability
