The Leeds Building Society and children’s charity Variety gave a presentation to one of the North East’s primary schools specialising in education for young children with special needs.
All 70 children at the Dales School in Blyth a Minion badge, a week before the release of the Minions film in cinemas. The presentation took place at the Society’s Blyth branch at 18 Church Street.
This continues the longstanding relationship between the three organisations, following Variety handing over the keys to a Sunshine Coach to Dales School in Blyth last year thanks to funds raised by Leeds Building Society.
Helen Shaw, deputy head at The Dales School, said: “The children enjoyed the Minions event and the staff from the Blyth branch, very generously, gave us enough Minion badges for every child in school. They were all thrilled.
“We are also very grateful to Leeds Building Society for helping us to buy a new Sunshine Coach last year to help transport special needs children.”
Colleen Ettridge, major accounts fundraising manager at Variety added: “We are dedicated to improving the lives of sick, disabled and disadvantaged children throughout the UK. The support we receive from Leeds Building Society and its members is valuable in helping Variety meet the special needs of children and to give them the chance to get more out of life.”
All Leeds Building Society’s branches in the North East area are currently promoting the ‘Minion’ themed pin badges, to coincide with the release of the film in cinemas on Friday 26th June.
