The Exeter partners with iGPR to streamline GP medical reporting

Published on

The Exeter has announced a new partnership with iGPR to accelerate and secure the medical information gathering process during life and health insurance applications.

Under the new agreement, iGPR – a leading provider of redaction and medical reporting software – will deliver a fully managed service for all GP medical reports required by The Exeter.

The move is intended to reduce turnaround times in cases where underwriting decisions cannot be made instantly, offering faster outcomes for applicants while easing the administrative burden on GP surgeries.

Medical reports from GPs remain a critical part of the underwriting process in more complex applications, where a full understanding of an applicant’s health is needed. Through this integration with iGPR’s digital platform, The Exeter will now be able to issue report requests electronically to surgeries already using the system.

These reports will be securely encrypted, with any third-party or non-relevant information automatically redacted in line with NHS data protection protocols.

ADVANTAGES

According to The Exeter, the new process brings a number of advantages – not only reducing the risk of human error or lost documents by removing paper from the process, but also giving advisers real-time visibility into the status of outstanding reports via the platform.

Toby Bainbridge, head of insurance solutions at The Exeter, said the partnership was a further step in the insurer’s ongoing investment in service improvements.

The Exeter’s relationship with iGPR further underlines our commitment to providing advisers and their clients with an exceptional experience,” he said.

“We aim to provide as many applicants as possible with an immediate underwriting decision, however this isn’t always possible.

“In those instances where further information is required, it’s important that any request is completed in the most efficient way for the GP surgery, and that the information is received in a secure manner; something that the iGPR system enables.”

Claire Reeves, co-founder of iGPR, added that the collaboration with The Exeter would also lay the groundwork for future digital innovations.

“We’re excited to work with The Exeter to accelerate and secure medical reporting through our digital platform,” she said.

“This collaboration not only improves underwriting efficiency but also sets the stage for our new Smart Claims function, which is set to significantly reduce claims turnaround times. Together, we’re helping to drive a faster, more transparent experience for patients, advisers and insurers.”
