Coventry Building Society has once again been recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development by Great Place to Work, securing a place in the 2025 ranking for the second consecutive year.

The mutual was listed 25th out of 50 in the Super Large category, which highlights organisations with more than 1,000 employees that offer consistently strong opportunities for professional growth and learning.

The accolade adds to the mutual’s tally of recognition over the past year. In addition to its development credentials, Coventry Building Society has also been named one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Women, for Wellbeing, and for Financial Services. It has also featured in the overall list of the UK’s Best Workplaces, and was the only UK bank or building society to be included in Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work for in Europe.

Beth Oldershaw, senior talent development manager at Coventry Building Society, said: “It’s fantastic that we’ve been recognised for all the ways we support our colleagues in developing the career they want. Development is all about continuous improvement and shows we’re committed to our colleagues fulfilling their potential. It not only makes our people feel appreciated but also plays a vital role in shaping our culture and developing future capability for our organisation.”

The Great Place to Work survey evaluates businesses on a range of employee experience metrics, including access to learning, leadership support for development, and fair opportunities for progression. Coventry’s sustained recognition across multiple categories indicates a deep-rooted emphasis on organisational culture and employee wellbeing at all levels of the business.

Headquartered in the West Midlands, Coventry Building Society is the UK’s second-largest building society, with over two million members.
