Tenet supports Leeds charity to bring festive gifts to families with financial difficulties

Staff at Leeds-based Tenet Group have completed a festive seasonal drive with local charity Zarach to provide food and gifts to local families in financial difficulty this Christmas.

Between 30 November and 15 December, Tenet employees volunteered at the charity’s pop-up shop at Bridge Community Church, Leeds, to ensure families in need received extra support for the Christmas period. Chief executive Mark Scanlon also joined the team during the pop-up shop’s final push yesterday.

Zarach is based in Leeds and partners with local schools to deliver beds and other essentials to children and families in financial difficulty. In a seasonal drive, the charity has been asking schools to nominate parents they feel will struggle financially this Christmas, who are then invited to visit the charity’s ‘CHRIMSHOP’ 2021.

Last year, over 700 people were provided with food and more than 2,000 gifts, with the hope of donating even more this year and giving parents in financial difficulty the additional choice over which gifts they’d like to receive. Every family will also receive a quality food hamper, with each parent also given a gift-wrapped box full of grown-up goodies.

Scanlon said: “We are very proud to be helping Zarach with the incredible work it does for families in Leeds. The festive period often brings with it additional spending pressures and unexpected costs, so I’ve been heartened by the kindness and dedication shown by everyone involved and seen first-hand the important difference they are making to people’s lives. All of us at Tenet feel very humbled to be supporting such a kind-hearted and important local charity and are delighted to be helping spread some Christmas cheer and community spirit.”

Kieran Malko, charity manager at Zarach, added: “We are so grateful for the ongoing support of Tenet who have chosen Zarach as their Charity of the Year. They have generously provided donations, fundraising and volunteering to help us give Every Head a Bed. This Christmas, the team is giving their valuable time to help children and families in Leeds that need it the most by supporting our CHRIMSHOP appeal. A huge ‘thank you’ to everyone at Tenet.”§§
