TDS Charitable Foundation invites funding applications

The TDS Charitable Foundation has invited organisations working to advance education about housing rights and obligations in the private rented sector (PRS) to apply for funding before the deadline of 14 June 2018.

Now in its eleventh round of funding, the TDS Charitable Foundation awards organisations that meet the Foundation’s aims of promoting knowledge of landlords’ obligations and tenants’ rights & responsibilities.

There are three bands of funding for which groups can apply for; a national project with national impact, an innovation fund for new projects to be created, and a community level for local initiatives.

The Foundation was established by Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS) in 2012 to support projects that champion best practice in the PRS, or promote education and information to raise standards.

In the last round of funding, the Foundation made three awards to organisations across England and Wales, totalling £41,881. This brought the total awarded amount to over £460,000 to 38 organisations since its inception.

With the latest round of funding, the TDS Charitable Foundation hopes to break through the half a million-pound total.

Prof. Martin Partington CBE QC (pictured), chairman of the TDS Charitable Foundation, said: “The PRS is often difficult to navigate, which is why we are committed to supporting projects, people and groups who aim to make a positive difference to the sector.

“It’s vital that both landlords and tenants across the country know their rights and responsibilities if we want to raise standards.

“We are actively supporting organisations who have projects or initiatives that share our goals. I’d encourage anyone that educates and informs tenants, landlords or agents to apply.”

Applications for funding can be made online and must be submitted before 5pm on Tuesday 14 June 2018.
