Mortgage and protection network Stonebridge has opened a new regional hub in Derby as it looks to draw on the depth of financial services expertise across the Midlands to support continued growth.
The East and West Midlands remain among the UK’s most established centres for mortgage and related finance roles. The region accounts for around one in six mortgage finance company jobs in England and Wales and a quarter of such roles outside London, with 17% of businesses in the sector based there.
The new hub is located at Gervase House, a refurbished office building in Derby’s Friar Gate area. Around 45 colleagues will be based at the site, which is expected to play a key role as the network increases headcount to support its member firms.
The Derby office will operate as a satellite to Stonebridge’s headquarters in Basildon, Essex. It currently houses teams from HR and finance, with further roles due to be added during 2026.
The hub also provides an additional base for network members who wish to meet Stonebridge support staff in person.
Stonebridge operates nationwide with more than 1,350 advisers and has arranged over £17 billion of lending in the past 12 months. Independent industry research published last year showed the network recruited more appointed representatives in 2025 than any other mortgage and protection network.
Rob Clifford (pictured), chief executive at Stonebridge, said: “Given the increasing popularity of hybrid versus permanent home working, we’ve been planning a regional hub for some time and I’m delighted that it has now become a reality.
“It’s a vote of absolute confidence in us by our shareholders, and it’s also a sign of our confidence in the Midlands.
“The region plays a key role in the UK economy as a centre for financial services firms outside London. Gervase House will support our expansion through local recruitment, increased collaboration, and improved accessibility for our network members who want to meet face to face.
“It is already providing a great working environment at this important crossroads for the team we are building here, and the wider 200 colleagues who will be able to use it as a base of operations when they need it.”
The announcement follows the appointment of Liz Obee as national recruitment manager last month, with responsibility for supporting the ongoing expansion of the network.
