Stephen Johnson, managing director of Shawbrook Bank’s commercial mortgages division, has been promoted to Deputy CEO of the Bank.

He has also joined the Shawbrook board.

Johnson (pictured) will retain his position as managing director of the commercial mortgages division. His role as Deputy CEO will be in addition to his existing leadership duties.

He has 12 years’ experience in building specialist lending businesses, primarily with operational and commercial experience in the UK intermediary market. Prior to Shawbrook Bank, Johnson was part of the founding team at Commercial First.

He said: “We launched Shawbrook in 2011 with big ambitions for the bank, and I’m delighted to take on the role of Deputy CEO at the start of a significant new chapter in Shawbrook’s journey. In addition to my new role, I will continue to lead the commercial mortgages division alongside a strong and very talented management team.

“We are committed to ensuring our processes, operations and framework are the best they can be for our brokers and customers, and this will continue to be a core focus for the Commercial Mortgages division in 2015 and beyond.”
