Simplybiz opens post-Budget Advice Show to wider market amid rising uncertainty

Simplybiz will open its post-Budget Advice Show to all financial services professionals for the first time, citing heightened client anxiety and widespread speculation ahead of the chancellor’s statement.

Usually restricted to member firms, the bi-monthly online event will run on Friday 28 November between 9.30am and midday. The sessions typically draw around 300 viewers, but the decision to broaden access reflects what the firm describes as an unusually unsettled climate for advisers and their clients.

The show will take place just two days after the Budget and will include global and UK market updates alongside a detailed assessment of the fiscal measures. There will also be a session examining the implications for tax-efficient planning.

Other topics move beyond the Budget itself, with discussions planned on working with clients who have vulnerable characteristics, a regulatory round-up for 2025, and a feature dedicated to cyber resilience in the advice sector.

The event will be chaired by the firm’s investment committee chair, Fabian Wiesner, and will feature nearly 30 speakers drawn from organisations including Aviva, Aegon, Blackfinch, BlackRock, Just, Smartsearch, Edentree and Simplybiz.

Tom Hegarty (pictured), chief executive of Simplybiz, said the decision to make the event available to the whole market was prompted by the need for clear, authoritative guidance at a time when rumour is unsettling both advisers and their clients.

“It’s hard to remember when a major economic event was last besieged by such rumour and lack of clarity.” he said.

“There is an opportunity here for advisers to demonstrate the value they offer to clients in times of uncertainty reaffirming the benefit of long-term planning, anchoring their advice in current legislation, managing client anxiety and providing reassurance, and – vitally – ensuring the client never loses sight of the end result.”

He added that the breadth of expertise available through the event would give advisers timely access to insight immediately after the Budget.

“Attending our Advice Show, with access to dozens of renowned, trusted experts from all areas of the financial service market in one place, just two days after the Budget, will offer advisers a huge breadth of information and the chance to ask questions of the panel.

“In just over two hours, attendees will feel better informed, better equipped, and more confident about delivering good outcomes to their clients. I believe that’s important enough to want to make it accessible to financial services professionals across the sector.”
