Shawbrook Bank’s commercial lending business has appointed Richard Angell and Ian Hoggart as business development managers (BDMs) to widen its coverage in the South Central and South West regions.

Hoggart (South West region) joins Shawbrook with over 25 years’ experience in mortgage lending and financial services, working for companies including Abbey National, Bristol & West and GE Money as a development manager and broker.

Angell (South Central region) has worked in the mortgage industry for a number of years, in business development roles for lenders, packagers and most recently in bridging finance.

Karen Bennett, head of sales and marketing, commercial mortgages at Shawbrook Bank, said: “We’re really excited to be expanding our team again with more talented mortgage specialists, each bringing different experiences and perspectives to our current team.

“Brokers lie at the heart of our business and we are dedicated to delivering on what we promise, which is why we have chosen to add additional regional support to give us better coverage of the UK and allow the brokers in the South Central and South West region access to valuable one on one relationship support.

“It’s an exciting time for Shawbrook and we are committed to making Shawbrook the lender to follow in 2013.”

Hoggart said: “It is clear from my very first contact with Shawbrook that the bank is passionate about delivering an excellent service to its broker partners, and delivering a great and reliable point of reference for brokers has always been very important to me as a BDM.

“Having seen lending from both sides of the fence, it is refreshing to work with a team dedicated to helping brokers place more business. The team at Shawbrook have a “can do” attitude which is ideal in the current difficult market.”

Angell said: “I am delighted to be joining at a time when Shawbrook Bank is meeting the needs of clients and intermediaries in the commercial and investment property market. I am looking forward to meeting with our existing contacts and making new connections to promote our range of products.”
