Shawbrook hires new BDM in Scotland

Shawbrook Bank has appointed Peter McDermid as the new business development manager (BDM) for Scotland.

McDermid (pictured) will be responsible for developing broker and introducer networks and growing the business across the region.

He spent nine years with the Bank of Scotland as a relationship manager dealing with commercial clients. He also worked within the bank’s real estate division where he supported brokers and was responsible for generating sales..

McDermid said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to join Shawbrook at such an exciting time, to support Scottish brokers and develop this region.

“I hope to bring the benefit of my local experience to really drive new business and look forward to working with the rest of the sales team to contribute towards Shawbrook’s impressive growth.”

Karen Bennett, sales and marketing director, commercial mortgages, Shawbrook Bank added: “Shawbrook is delighted to welcome Peter as a new BDM. We are receiving an increasing number of enquiries from brokers across Scotland and it’s fantastic that we now have a dedicated BDM in place to help support them and deliver for their clients.
