Shawbrook expands commercial mortgages team

Published on

Shawbrook Bank has made new appointments to its commercial mortgages division.

Amanda Howe and Ella-Louise Smith have been recruited as lending officers, while Mark Valmont joins as a quality control officer and Mark Palmer as a lending manager for the portfolio team.

Howe and Smith will provide case management support to the lending managers in their respective teams.

Palmer joins after working as a mortgage adviser for three years, before a five year spell as a mortgage supervisor at the Yorkshire Building Society in Central London. He will be responsible for overseeing cases with repeat Shawbrook clients.

He said: “Shawbrook was recommended by a friend and colleague during my time at the Yorkshire Building Society, who now works in the Specialist Residential team here at Shawbrook.

“Having learned about the Bank’s vision and its history of delivering a service-driven, case-by-case approach to commercial lending, I knew that this was the place where I wanted to work. As someone who has been in the mortgage industry for a number of years, I love the bespoke approach to lending where applications are dealt with on a common sense basis. It’s a much more enjoyable way to work and takes into account the individual circumstances of brokers’ clients, rather than the production line “computer says no” approach.”

Karen Bennett, sales and marketing director for Shawbrook Commercial, added: “On behalf of the entire commercial team, we’re very pleased to welcome aboard our new colleagues.

“With fresh faces joining the quality control and lending teams, we are investing into the future of the commercial division whilst simultaneously expanding the resource available to our brokers’ clients with immediate effect. Each employee has been chosen for their experience and suitability for their respective roles, and we are confident that these new starters will deliver the level of personal, progressive service to our broker partners which Shawbrook is renowned for.”
