Shawbrook appoints head of networks

Caroline Mirakian, formerly of Metro Bank, has joined Shawbrook Bank as head of networks across its commercial mortgages and residential mortgages teams.

She will be responsible for building on Shawbrook’s existing relationships with network and mortgage club partners, as well as delivering mortgage services to its broker community and widening existing distribution.

Mirakian has spent the last 15 years in the banking sector, working for financial institutions such as Barclays, RBS and Lloyds. For the past six years she has been head of key accounts for Metro Bank. During her tenure, she also held the position of head of direct mortgages, managed a BDM team, oversaw the broker helpdesk and undertook other aspects such as marketing and intermediary oversight.

She said: “Shawbrook really cares and values the relationships it has with the broker community. Their mantra ‘Proudly Different’ resonates with me, as their ambitious plans for growth are centred around how best they can deliver something special for their customers and brokers.

“Whether that be through their later life lending products or its first and second charge plans. If you are going to join anywhere why not join one of the best.”

Jeremy Law, managing director for the residential mortgages team, added: “With the specialist market continuing to evolve and becoming increasingly important to customers underserved by current mortgage lenders, it essential that we recruit talented people such as Caroline who will widen the distribution of Shawbrook’s products.

“We are extremely fortunate to have such an experienced person as Caroline joining us, and I look forward to welcoming her to the business.”
