Shawbrook appoints BDM for East Anglia

Published on

Shawbrook Bank’s commercial mortgages division has appointed Daryl Norkett as business development manager (BDM).

He will be responsible for Shawbrook’s East Anglia region, working with broker partners to identify opportunities where Shawbrook can help its clients obtain the finance they need to fund property investments, refurbishment projects and purchase premises for their trading businesses.

Norkett will also be working alongside the commercial team to ensure the process of applying for and completing on commercial loan applications is as smooth and efficient as possible for both brokers and clients.

He joins Shawbrook with nearly five years’ experience at Barclays, operating in numerous business banking roles and working specifically with start-ups across the Norwich area. Over the last two years he has been managing a portfolio of SMEs in and around Ipswich.

Norkett said: “East Anglia is a great area for Shawbrook, with several cities and large towns. I’m really excited to have the opportunity to devote my time to an area where I’ve spent my entire life living, studying and working, to really expand Shawbrook’s presence across the region.

“I can’t wait to meet our existing brokers and new potential broker partners and learn more about what’s happening on the ground with business owners and professional property investors.”

Karen Bennett, sales and marketing director for commercial mortgages at Shawbrook Bank, added: “Daryl is a fantastic addition to our team and his enthusiasm for the role, combined with his experience in the industry, is sure to add real value to our already strong offering for East Anglia.

“As a business development manager, Daryl will be working with new and existing brokers to identify where we can work together with the appropriate products and guidance. Daryl will also be working with our internal teams to continue to improve our application process and provide further support for our broker partners.”
