Shawbrook’s residential mortgages team has announced the appointment of Julia Dobell as business development manager (BDM).

She over 30 years of experience in financial services. Previous roles include financial institutions such as Legal & General, Aviva, Aegon, Friends Life, Zurich and most recently, OneFamily.

In her new role, Dobell will be focussed upon building relationships with Shawbrook’s key accounts to promote Shawbrook residential mortgages’ brand and products, as well as engaging with new partners to broaden distribution within the South East region.

She said: “I am looking forward to a new challenge with a growing company and a strong team. As well as further developing my relationship with the intermediary community in the South East region, I look forward to bringing my expertise to develop Shawbrook’s future growth areas.”

Meanwhile, the specialist lender has also promoted Jas Bhogal to the newly created position of sales operations manager. Also reporting to the sales & distribution director, Bhogal will lead the internal broker support team to assist the field-based BDMs in their development of key relationships.

Bhogal said: “There are many exciting improvements to come from Shawbrook in the near future. As such I’m looking to drive our internal sales strategy forward, ensuring that we provide expert support to our brokers through this period of change. Having previously worked for the underwriting team, I can also bring my in-depth knowledge of our lending criteria to the role to provide a 360 degree level of support to our brokers.”

David Robinson, sales and distribution director – residential mortgages, added: “I’m thrilled that someone of Julia’s calibre has joined the residential mortgages team. She brings a depth and breadth of knowledge that will enrich the experience of our valued broker partners. Not only that, her experience will be invaluable once we begin to pursue new markets.

“Jas has been a crucial part of our day-to-day operations for some time and I’m delighted that he will be assuming this additional responsibility in support of our brokers and their customers. It’s an exciting time for the business and we plan to continue to invest in our teams and our key relationships to provide a strong platform for future growth.”
