Police investigate loan repayment fraud

Published on

The City of London Police has launched an investigation into an alleged loan repayment fraud.
Fraudsters are suspected of using people’s personal details and a Finnish-based loans company, MCO Capital, to obtain payments for cash loans. Detectives are now working with the company.
The case was referred to the force by the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), who had analysed an increasing number of Action Fraud crime reports on the issue.
Action Fraud has reported hundreds of calls from people supposedly receiving demands for money from MCO Capital.
The investigations team is advising anyone who has received notification of a loan taken out in their name, which they have not applied for, to register the fraud by writing to MCO Capital at: Intrum Justitia Ltd of 5th Floor, The Plaza 100 Old Hall Street, Liverpool L3 9QJ.
This will result in any enforcement action to reclaim the loan being halted while police enquiries continue.
