Pluto Finance appoints Eduardo Martin to lead Iberian expansion

Published on

Pluto Finance has announced the appointment of Eduardo Martin as lending director for Iberia, as the private credit platform implements its European expansion strategy.

Martin’s appointment follows that of Ciaran Singh, who joined as managing director – Europe in April this year, with a remit to lead Pluto’s growth across key continental markets including Ireland, Iberia, the Netherlands and Germany.

The move into Iberia is among the firm’s first steps beyond the UK, alongside the recent appointment of Shane Ryan as lending director for the UK and Ireland in December 2024.

With more than 20 years’ experience in real estate finance, Martin (pictured) brings a strong track record of originating and structuring credit deals for both banks and funds. He has held senior roles in London and Madrid at firms such as Pbb, Starz and Alantra.

His role at Pluto will focus on delivering bespoke credit solutions to the Iberian mid-market across a range of real estate asset classes.

Pluto has built its base in the UK through development and bridging finance, lending over £3.5bn across approximately 300 transactions since inception. These deals have supported the delivery of more than 12,000 homes nationwide. The firm is now looking to replicate its UK success across the continent.

Singh said Martin’s appointment marked a significant moment in Pluto’s plans for Europe. “Eduardo’s appointment marks the next stage of Pluto’s European expansion outside the UK after recently entering the Irish property credit market,” he said.

“Our investor relationships in Europe are already strong, with 43% of commitments to our flagship lending vehicle originating from blue chip European institutional investors. Eduardo’s relationships with mid-market borrowers and engagement with institutional investors will make him an invaluable addition to the team.”

Martin added: “The strength of Pluto’s position in the UK residential and commercial real estate lending market provides an excellent base from which we can build a quality lending business in Iberia.

“Real estate private credit is evolving as the preferred funding source for mid-market borrowers in the UK and Europe and I am confident borrowers will benefit from Pluto’s tailored approach to lending structures and speed of execution in Iberia. I look forward to helping the team expand into this important market.”
