OneFamily announces new non-executive director

Published on

OneFamily has revealed that Melanie Hind will be joining its board as a non-executive director from September.

Hind has had a number of senior roles in the UK and internationally within the financial and professional services sectors. She has extensive business experience that includes strategy and change leadership, risk management, corporate and regulatory reporting and stakeholder engagement.

As head of assurance quality at BDO International, Hind was influential in steering the audit and assurance quality strategy for one of the six largest audit firm networks. She also spent six years as an executive director at the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), setting policy in the public interest and supervising corporate governance, reporting, audit and actuarial standards and practice.

Prior to this she held leadership roles at Friends Life Group, where she was CRO, and was a partner specialising in insurance and asset management regulation and audit in PwC’s financial services assurance practice.

Hind is currently an audit non-executive at KPMG UK and is a non-executive director of Talbot Underwriting Limited. She has held, and continues to hold, non-executive roles in non-profit organisations that work in education, support survivors of domestic violence and provide humanitarian relief.

OneFamily CEO, Teddy Nyahasha, said: “On behalf of the OneFamily board, I am pleased to welcome Melanie at an exciting time of growth for OneFamily as we continue with our ambitious modernisation programme, whilst embracing our mutual roots with a vision that has social inclusion at its heart.

“Her experience will be of great value to us and I’m looking forward to working with her as we move our plans for OneFamily forward.”

HInd added: “I’m looking forward to working with the team at OneFamily. I’m especially interested to learn more about the company’s focus as a mutual on building financial resilience, promoting life-long learning and championing financial inclusion.

“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to support and challenge an organisation that has such a clear vision of its positive social impact.”
