OneDome acquires Trussle to accelerate push for 10% share of UK housing market

Published on

OneDome, the UK’s fastest-growing property and fintech platform, has acquired online mortgage broker Trussle – trading as Better.co.uk – from New York-listed Better Home and Finance Holding Company (NASDAQ: BETR), in a move that further consolidates its presence in the digital homebuying sector.

The deal, which is pending final approval by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), brings together two prominent players in the tech-driven mortgage space.

It positions OneDome to significantly expand its lending footprint and moves it closer to its stated goal of handling 10% of all UK property transactions within five years.

FULLY DIGITAL

Founded in 2015, Trussle was the UK’s first fully digital mortgage broker. After raising more than $35 million in venture capital, it was acquired by U.S.-based Better in 2021.

Known for its automation-led model and highly rated customer service – boasting over 9,000 reviews on Trustpilot with an average 4.8-star rating – Trussle is considered a pioneer in the online mortgage market.

The combined group will facilitate more than £3.5 billion in mortgage lending annually, process around 1,100 property transactions each month, and operate with a workforce of 230, including 105 mortgage, protection and financial advisers.

The acquisition is a strategic milestone for OneDome, which has been steadily building its integrated homebuying platform. With this move, the company deepens its technological capabilities and market reach at a time when the UK mortgage market is undergoing rapid digital transformation.

CLEAR VISION

Babek Ismayil (main picture), founder and CEO of OneDome, said: “Trussle has built an excellent team and a reputation for innovation and customer focus.

“We share a clear vision: that buying a home should be simpler, faster, and less stressful. Trussle’s Smartbuyer proposition closely mirrors our own award-winning HomeBuyer Service, and combining our strengths is a natural next step to transforming this historically outdated sector.”

And he added:  “This deal gives us greater firepower to serve homebuyers and deliver a best-in-class digital journey. We’re thrilled to welcome the Trussle team into the OneDome Group and look forward to building something even more impactful together.”

Kevin Ryan, President and CFO of Better, said: “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with OneDome throughout this process and are excited about their vision for the future.

“We wish the Trussle team every success as they enter this new chapter under OneDome’s leadership.”

OneDome was launched by Babek Ismayil in 2017 and is chaired by Sir Nigel Knowles.

Since then its has acquired amongst others Nethouseprices, Contractor Wealth Management and CMME Mortgage and Protection, Albany Park from Hatbox Group and as Mortgage Soup revealed in December London mortgage broker Coreco.
