There was a dissenter within the Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee at the most recent bank rate decision meeting.
When the Governor invited the Committee to vote that the bank rate should be kept at 0.5% and quantitative easing maintained at £200 billion, seven members of the Committee (the Governor, Charles Bean, Paul Tucker, Spencer Dale, Paul Fisher, David Miles and Adam Posen) voted in favour of the proposition. Andrew Sentance voted against, preferring an increase in Bank Rate of 25 basis points.
