Norton Group strengthens leadership with head of risk and compliance hire

Norton Group has appointed Emma-Jayne Savory as head of risk and compliance, marking the latest step in its strategy to underpin sustainable growth and strengthen its regulatory framework.

Savory (pictured) brings more than two decades of experience in financial services, having previously held senior roles at TMG Mortgage Network and Mortgage Advice Bureau.

Her background spans supervision, field operations and compliance oversight, providing her with a detailed understanding of risk management in advisory environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In her new position, she will oversee risk and compliance across Norton’s secured and unsecured lending divisions as well as its mortgage broking services. Working alongside the executive team, she will focus on aligning the group’s controls and culture with evolving regulatory expectations, while maintaining its emphasis on fair customer outcomes and broker support.

Her appointment follows the arrival of Amy Husband as head of operations in June, part of a broader initiative to refine Norton’s internal processes and enhance service delivery.

Based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, the family-run Norton Group has been operating since 1974. It provides both broking and lending services, offering secured and unsecured loans and remortgages from £3,000 to £500,000, with terms of up to 30 years.

Paul Stringer, co-chief executive at Norton Group, said: “Risk and compliance play a vital role in any financial services business, but especially in one with Norton’s reach and heritage. We’ve always taken our responsibilities seriously, and Emma-Jayne’s appointment marks a clear step in strengthening that area of our business.

“Emma-Jayne’s track record speaks for itself, and she brings strong leadership, sound judgement and a calm, methodical approach that fits well with our values. I have every confidence she’ll help us continue to build a stable foundation for the next phase of growth.”

Savory added: “I’m delighted to be joining Norton Group as head of risk and compliance at such an important time for the business.

“Norton has a strong reputation for putting customers first, and I look forward to building on that by ensuring our risk and compliance framework continues to support sustainable growth, regulatory confidence and positive customer outcomes.

“The financial services industry is evolving quickly, and my priority will be to work collaboratively across the group to embed a culture where risk management and compliance are not just safeguards, but enablers of long-term success.”
