Barbon-NewSeniorManagementTeam

Barbon Insurance Group has appointed a new senior management team.

This follows the appointment of Martin Totty as new CEO two months ago.

Jonathan George joins the business as operations director. Over the past 20 years, George has been involved in the development of customer service operations for a number of organisations, including AXA Assistance, Capital One, Specsavers and GE Money. Prior to joining Barbon, he was operations director at WhiteConcierge, part of the AXA Assistance Group.

He said: “I am looking forward to using my wealth of experience and passion for delivering great straightforward customer service through people, as well as shaking up the residential lettings industry by offering Barbon customers even better deals.”

Phil Screeton has been appointed as the company’s finance director. He joins from a consultancy role at Key Retirement Solutions. Before that, he spent seven years as CFO at private equity owned Lowell Group. He has also held a number of senior finance roles within GE Capital and Kingfisher Group.

He said: “Barbon is perfectly poised for future success, with a stronger balance sheet and substantially lower level of debt financing than before.”

Completing the line-up is Derek McCormick who is Barbon’s new underwriting director. His most recent role was commercial manager at NIG, part of Direct Line Group, where he was responsible for profit and loss for Midlands and South West regions. Prior to that, he was managing director of Insureit, an online commercial MGA. Earlier roles include sales and marketing manager and UK general and business manager at Zurich.

McCormick said: “I am delighted to head up such a talented and highly experienced team of underwriters. We will continue to boost our underwriting and technical skills in order to be able to offer consistent pricing to customers, combined with a wide range of innovative cover, which remains competitive in the market place.”

Martin Totty, Barbon’s CEO, said: “The appointment of Jonathan, Phil and Derek represents a significant strengthening of our ranks. Barbon has been through major changes in recent months but emerges modernised, stronger and more focused with supportive investors and a new head office in Lincoln. They join the business at an exciting time as we continue to develop and enhance our market-leading position in the residential lettings market across three consumer-facing brands; HomeLet, Letsure and Rentshield.

“With restructuring now firmly behind us, I look forward to working with this new, dynamic team to provide a premium service to all our UK-wide customer groups and implement our strategy for the next phase of growth.”
