New appointment to expand Cumberland BS distribution

The Cumberland Building Society has appointed a new head of intermediary lending as it continues its distribution expansion supporting brokers providing specialist holiday let mortgages and residential mortgages.

Grant Seaton, previously senior commercial manager at the Cumberland, has taken the reins of the building society’s intermediary team which has a specialism and expertise in lending to the hospitality sector, having provided holiday let mortgages for over 10 years now.

The building society has also offered residential mortgages to a select number of large intermediary firms for a similar number of years; however, it made a decision in 2021 to develop its intermediary team further in a bid to expand its offering to the residential market.

As head of intermediary lending, Seaton (pictured) is responsible for leading the intermediary team in expanding the residential mortgage distribution channel.

Seaton assumes the role with a wealth of experience, having worked at the Cumberland for more than 25 years.

The Cumberland’s Kinder Banking purpose is reflected by the intermediary team who are committed to providing a relationship managed approach to intermediaries with a strong support framework for onboarded firms.

Seaton said: “It is an exciting time for the Cumberland as we ramp up our efforts in delivering a quality service to our intermediary clients whilst providing working solutions for the end customer.

“A key aspect of the Cumberland’s ambitions is to expand and modernise our services, while at the same time applying our Kinder Banking purpose which puts people at the heart of what we do.

“The development of the intermediary team is a prime example of this. Not only does it see us expand our offering, but it will also serve as another vessel for us to apply the values which make the Cumberland a truly unique building society.

“Myself, and the rest of the team, are looking forward to continuously innovating our service and supporting thousands across the country in securing mortgages which work for them and make their house owning dreams become a reality.”
