Nationwide appoints director of mortgage intermediaries and partnerships

Nationwide has appointed Damian Thompson as its new director of mortgage intermediaries and partnerships – effective from Wednesday, 1 October.

Thompson (main picture), who has led The Mortgage Works as commercial director of landlord since the start of 2023, will move to a new role with responsibility for leading and driving forward the Nationwide Group’s intermediary relationships.

He will also be responsible for the Group’s other third-party partnerships across mortgages, insurance, protection and investments, including managing Nationwide’s relationship with Aviva, who underwrite its home insurance offering. Thompson will report to Nationwide’s Group Director of Mortgages, Henry Jordan.

At the same time, Ian Andrew, Nationwide’s director of intermediary relationships, has decided it’s the right time for him to leave the organisation after 18 years.

Thompson said: “I’m delighted to be taking on this new role at what is an exciting time for the Nationwide Group.

“Intermediaries and our other partnerships are hugely important to our business and I’m very much looking forward to building on the already fantastic relationships we have with them and will be focusing on how we can further improve the service we offer all brokers, both now and in the future.”

“His wealth of experience across the mortgage and mutual sectors will be invaluable as we strive to further strengthen the Nationwide Group’s position in the intermediary sector.

“I also want to thank Ian Andrew for his leadership and contribution to Nationwide over the last 18 years.

“His tireless work to support the intermediary market has ensured that Nationwide has one of the highest performing intermediary relationships teams in the industry. I wish Ian all the best for the future.”
