MPowered launches YouTube show to demystify homebuying

Published on

MPowered Mortgages has created a new YouTube series, On the House, aimed at helping borrowers navigate the mortgage process with confidence.

Hosted by BBC presenter and consumer specialist Martyn James (pictured), the show covers key mortgage-related topics, including why securing a mortgage can feel daunting and how much deposit is needed to buy a home.

The series features well-known figures from the personal finance and property sectors who share insights and practical advice for homebuyers. Among the guest line-up is Ola Majekodunmi, founder of All Things Money, who uses her platform to educate her 29,200 Instagram followers on financial literacy topics not typically covered in school.

Also appearing on the show is James Nicholson, property investment mentor and founder of Property Accelerator, whose YouTube channel is followed by 38,600 subscribers. Nicholson provides guidance on property investment and explains how macroeconomic factors like interest rates, inflation, and house price trends impact the mortgage market.

Another key guest is Sarah Tucker, founder of The Mortgage Mum and a regular contributor to ITV’s This Morning. Tucker is widely recognised for her work in empowering women in finance and her recent collaboration with 10 Downing Street, advising the government on strategies to improve access to homeownership.

Stuart Cheetham, CEO of MPowered Mortgages, highlighted the importance of educating borrowers in an accessible way.

“We are thrilled to be working with Martyn on this new show aimed at educating borrowers on the ins and outs of mortgages in an easy-to-understand way. It’s important, as lenders, that we equip borrowers with the knowledge they need to support them with their mortgage and property journeys.”

Cheetham also pointed to the broader benefits of the initiative: “We have an incredible guest line-up with strong recognition in the world of personal finance, as well as extensive social media influence. While we are a broker-only lender, we believe it’s crucial to engage consumers with our brand so that when they start their mortgage journey, they think of MPowered. This will also support brokers who are recommending our mortgages.”

Tucker added: “I loved filming this show. Martyn and the MPowered team were amazing to work with. Demystifying the mortgage process and guiding people through the world of mortgages and property is something I’m really passionate about. The more we can do to financially educate people so they feel empowered, the better.

“It’s important that we, as an industry, work together to help people get excited about applying for a mortgage, rather than feeling scared or out of control.”
