MPC increases quantitative easing

The Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has increased the size of its Asset Purchase Programme – so-called quantitative easing – by £50 billion to £325 billion.

It also voted to maintain the official Bank Rate at 0.5%.

It means that the rate has remained unchanged for the 35th consecutive month.
