Movera appoints director of professional standards

Home-moving group Movera has appointed Glen Walker as its new director of professional standards, in order to spearhead its risk culture transformation.

Walker (pictured), who brings more than 20 years’ experience from roles in major financial institutions and specialist firms, is leading a business-wide initiative to elevate Movera’s approach to professional standards.

The appointment is part of a broader strategy to embed a proactive risk culture that supports the group’s long-term growth ambitions.

In his first 100 days, Walker has already introduced a new risk management framework and rolled out a new platform to support it. He has also begun reshaping the professional standards function, which is now expanding to include new roles in financial crime, advisory, client care and technical support.

“This is a business that’s genuinely open to change and improvement, which was one of the main reasons I joined,” said Walker.

“Professional standards is about more than compliance — it’s about setting the tone for how a business operates and supports its people and clients. We’re building a structure that’s fit for the future: clear roles, strong governance, smart use of technology, and a team that can scale with the business.”

Recruitment is already under way, with the expanded function set to play a central role in shaping and maintaining standards across all areas of Movera’s operations.

Craig Underwood, group chief operating officer, said the appointment signals a significant step in the company’s evolution. “Glen’s appointment is a significant step forward for us. He brings not only deep technical knowledge but a leadership style that’s grounded, people-focused and future-ready,” he said.

“The work he’s doing to build out the team and bring professional standards to life across the business will support our long-term growth and create exciting development opportunities for talent across Movera.”
