Mortgage market continues to stagger on

The whole mortgage market grew annually by 0.6% in September, with annual growth of the banks’ net mortgage lending at 1.6%.

David Dooks, the British Bankers’ Assocation’s statistics director, said: “There was a small net increase in business lending to the non-financial sector in September. Firms are continuing to build up cash reserves where possible
