Mortgage industry rallies behind Christmas charity concert

Momentum is building fast behind this year’s Christmas charity concert in aid of EveryYouth with organisers reporting a surge of industry support just days after launching the initiative.

Event architect Kevin Duffy, managing director at Mortgageforce UK, said he had been “bowled over” by the speed at which lenders and affiliates have lined up to back the cause.

He told Mortgage Soup: “It’s been very humbling the alacrity with which almost a dozen sponsors have already jumped on this.

“The cause is an appropriate one for the lenders and many will have seen from previous concerts that the quality of the award-winning West End musicians who perform really is exceptional, to say nothing of our industry’s own talent pool.”

And he added: “I would encourage any interested sponsors to act quickly now as this event will most definitely sell out.”

VITAL SERVICES

EveryYouth, the charity at the heart of the event, provides vital services to young people experiencing homelessness, from mental health support to training, employment and helping them secure a home of their own.

David Lewis, Marketing Executive at Family Building Society, said: “Family Building Society is proud to support this event, which in turn benefits and empowers today’s youth.

“EveryYouth are an incredible charity who provide essential mental health support, help young people find meaningful employment and assist them in securing a home of their own.”

Hampshire Trust Bank (HTB) has also thrown its weight behind the initiative. Andrea Glasgow, Sales Director, Specialist Mortgages at HTB, said: “I’m thrilled that HTB is supporting this event.

“A safe place to call home is something every young person should have, and that’s why this cause means so much to me.

“I love that our industry is coming together to shine a light on it – it shows the difference we can make when we put our energy into something that truly matters.”

With demand already outpacing expectations, sponsors are being urged to act quickly. The combination of West End musicians, mortgage market talent and a cause that resonates so deeply is shaping up to make this year’s concert one of the sector’s most talked-about festive gatherings.

UNITED EFFORTS

The event follows the success of the Ukraine Aid concert, which brought together the mortgage industry in 2022 to raise tens of thousands of pounds in humanitarian support.

Beyond the music, the evening will also be a powerful networking opportunity for the sector.

Last year, nearly 136,000 young people in the UK sought help from their local council due to homelessness.

Funds raised will provide direct support and prevention programmes in London and nationwide.

With general admission tickets, corporate sponsorship packages and charitable support opportunities available the organisers are urging the wider mortgage community to lend their support to what they describe as one of the industry’s most ambitious charitable efforts to date.
