Market Harborough Building Society has announced the creation of its Lending Advisory Panel, a new initiative aimed at strengthening its specialist lending proposition through collaboration with industry experts.
The panel will focus on developing new lending solutions, as well as improving distribution strategies and processes, to support the Society’s continued growth in complex and niche mortgage markets.
SPECIALIST LENDING GROWTH
Over the past three years, Market Harborough has achieved 50% growth in lending, with 2024 marking its third consecutive year of record mortgage advances. The Society’s expansion has been driven by a focus on specialist lending, and the Lending Advisory Panel aims to build on this momentum by bringing together internal expertise and external industry insight.
Iain Kirkpatrick, chief executive officer at Market Harborough, said the panel reflects the Society’s ambition to lead in specialist lending.

“We’re pleased to launch the Lending Advisory Panel, which underscores our commitment to innovation and excellence in the lending sector. By leveraging the expertise of both our internal team and leading industry professionals, we aim to set new benchmarks in lending performance and broker satisfaction,” he said.
INDUSTRY EXPERTS JOINING THE PANEL
The first appointment to the panel is industry veteran Danny Belton, who brings more than 35 years of experience in the mortgage sector. Belton (pictured) previously spent 25 years at Legal & General, where he led Legal & General’s Mortgage Club, and more recently served as head of lending at Mortgage Advice Bureau.
Belton said he looked forward to contributing to the panel’s work. “Joining the Lending Advisory Panel is an exciting opportunity to work with a forward-thinking organisation like Market Harborough. I’m eager to share my expertise and help shape the future of its mortgage business by advising on innovative and effective lending strategies and initiatives.”
FUTURE PLANS
The Lending Advisory Panel will meet regularly to review and develop initiatives that align with Market Harborough’s long-term vision in specialist lending. The Society plans to announce at least one additional panel member later this year as it continues to expand its presence in the market.
