Market Financial Solutions has stepped up its internal support programmes following a study showing that many UK adults still view financial services as stressful, inflexible, or difficult to enter.
The research also found that work-life balance remains a leading factor in career decisions, underscoring the need for employers to offer a more supportive working environment.
The lender has broadened its wellbeing initiatives over the course of this year. Staff have received mental health training, while a cohort of accredited mental health first aiders has been appointed to provide initial guidance to colleagues.
The intention is to ensure that employees have access to practical support while also demonstrating that the sector can offer inclusive and sustainable long-term career paths.
The lender’s focus on wellbeing has also extended beyond its own team. Earlier in the year, Market Financial Solutions sponsored the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter Charity Ball, an alcohol-free event aimed at raising awareness of mental health concerns across the industry.
Paresh Raja, chief executive of Market Financial Solutions, said: “The world of work is constantly evolving, as are the wants and needs of the working population.
“Unfortunately, our research revealed that many people are put off from working in financial services due to the perceived stress or stuffiness involved – it is a reminder that we have to keep striving to be better and break down barriers.”
“At Market Financial Solutions, our priority is to ensure our team, and all future employees, have the support and resources they need to thrive in their career.
“We also want to do our part in encouraging a new generation of professionals to consider entering the sector.”
He added: “The MIMHC Charity Ball in October highlighted some of the issues at play and the importance of raising awareness of mental health issues within our sector and beyond.
“That’s why we’re doubling down on the support we’re providing staff, from introducing new training and wellbeing initiatives to creating an environment where people can grow and build sustainable careers.
“We are committed to continuing this work and to finding ways to support our colleagues while opening pathways into the sector.”
